A weekend in Birmingham Recap!

Hey Friends! Wow what a crazy week it has been. Last weekend my mom and I took a little trip to Birmingham, Alabama to attend preview day at Samford University. I am in love with Samford and Birmingham so I thought it would be fun to share some things we did! Let me know in the comments if you have any Birmingham favorites!

Day One!
So, we left on Friday at around 9 in the morning on Southwest airlines! The flight was an easy hour and a half. Our first stop was Alabama Biscuit Company and oh my word y’all this was the best thing I’ve ever had to eat. I ordered the Croque Madame biscuit and my mom got the bacon, egg, and cheese. We ate them in seconds and I’m still thinking about them a week later- oops. Anyway, if you find yourself in Birmingham it’s a must eat.

Next, we drove over to Auburn! I also love Auburn and had so much fun walking around and taking in the pretty Alabama views. My mom and I tried the iconic Toomers Lemonade and it did not disappoint!

After that we drove back and ate Real and Rosemary for dinner, in downtown Homewood. Such a fun and adorable environment for semi healthy meals! We then settled in for the evening and got ready for a 6 am wakeup call!!

Day Two!
We had an early start to the day, as we made our way to Samford University for Junior preview day! We had such a fun morning filled with new information and a wonderful tour of the school! If you can’t tell I really like it! We then headed out around 12 and visited Downtown Homewood again for some shopping and a visit to Cookie Fix. Y’all Birmingham knows how to eat, these cookies were honestly the best I’ve ever had. Warm, gooey homemade heaven. A trip to Birmingham in not complete without a stop here. We also stopped at Farm bowl and juice company and I had the yummiest Acai bowl. I got the signature “farm bowl” and a yummy lemon and strawberry infused water. The best part about this place though was the swings in the front! I was so in love because any time there’s a swing involved I’m down!

After the eating, we figured it was time for a little exercise so we drove over to the Vulcan statue! The Vulcan is the world’s largest cast iron statue and is a symbol of Birmingham Alabama, meant to reflect its roots in the iron and steel industry! The statue itself is 56 feet tall but the tower all together is 123ft! It’s 157 stairs to the top! After this fun little adventure, we took a power nap back at the hotel and then headed off to Taco Mama. (so basically, we ate a lot) Taco mama is a Birmingham local staple and we can see why! Cheap/yummy Mexican food is always a win!! We then shopped around the Summit a little bit which is a gigantic shopping complex filled with every store you could think of. Honestly it was all there! After this we headed back to the hotel and packed up our stuff to get ready to leave early in the morning. Y’all Birmingham is such a fun little weekend getaway and I highly recommend it! Thanks for so much reading and following along!
